Erin Piacenti's GoFundMe exceeds $1m as BofA prepares to honour her memory
The GoFundMe for Erin Piacenti, the Bank of America vice president murdered on her way home in Times Square last week has reached over $1m. 9,500 people have donated, but there is still around $200k to go before the fundraiser reaches its target.
Piacenti had just returned from maternity leave. The fund is intended to help provide for her young daughter.

Many of those donating are thought to have been Piacenti's colleagues at BofA. Writing on LinkedIn, one senior member of her team said they all received the notifications of an incident on the day Erin died. "The next day, we learned that this was anything but routine," she added, saying that everyone who had the privilege of working with Erin had been "hit incredibly hard."
Bank of America is preparing to honour Erin in other ways. A spokesman for the bank said: “In accordance with Erin’s family, the bank is planning to honour her memory in a meaningful way and will share more soon.”
In an email publicizing the GoFundMe to employees, Bank of America said the GoFundMe was set up by an individual and that as such donations would not go to a registered charity. As a result, they would not be "eligible for a registered gift matching program," it explained, meaning that BofA will not match donations given.
"Thank you for continuing to support one another and for keeping Erin's family in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time," said BofA in the email.
