Carlos Quieroz is joining OCBC as an MD for AI. He spent the last five years as an MD at Standard Chartered, where he was global head of data science engineering for the corporate, commercial and institutional bank. He also previously ran the technology data platform at another Singaporean bank, DBS.

Quieroz is a PhD computer scientist with a number of academic papers published, especially on big data architecture. He also recently gave a talk about accelerating machine learning models using the ray framework.

OCBC is also looking to expand its AI applications. A job opening for a PhD data scientist in the bank's 'AI Lab' says that applicants will be working on "applications for conversational bots and content generation."
