Evercore will very probably pay $1.2m+ this year
While the big US banks reported their Q3 earnings some time ago (and European banks are doing so currently), its boutique banks have only just started reporting theirs. Among the first, as usual, is Evercore.

Evercore did very well in Q3, on top of its performance in the first half of the year. Q3 net revenues for 2026 were up 12% on the same period in 2025; net revenues for the first nine months of the year were up 38% across the same period.
Headcount and compensation, in turn, grew. Evercore had 2,835 people at the end of Q3 2026; a year ago, it had 2,525, a 13% increase. Its senior managing director (SMD) count also increased by 13%, from 207 to 233. That’s proportional, of course, and also flies somewhat in the face of the expected wisdom from Lazard and the likes, which expect deal teams to shrink, and the proportion of dealmakers to junior bankers to increase. Clearly, that hasn’t happened at Evercore.
Pay was a standout. The firm has earmarked compensation of $810k per head in the first nine months of the year, up from the $669k it paid on average in the first nine months of 2025. In the chart below, we found that the nine-month-to-year-end compensation ratio was around 1.5. If that pattern holds in 2026 too, average pay should clear the $1.2m mark. Not bad at all.
The firm noted that it had hired six SMDs in Q3; Dylan Tornay from Citi’s equity capital markets team, John Pissanos from JPMorgan’s healthcare banking team, John Song and Jean Stack from Baird, John Vaske from Ducera, and Philip von Malsen-Plessen, UBS’ vice-chair of global banking in EMEA.
