Citi hired Cocks from Barclays to co-head its healthcare ECM business
It's a good time to join Citi's equity capital markets (ECM) business. Its global market share has grown to 6.3%, up from 4.6% last year, and its share in North America is the highest it has been since 2021. There's still room to grow, though, and the bank has made a senior hire from Barclays to facilitate that.

Dan Cocks has joined Citi has co-head of healthcare ECM according to his LinkedIn. FINRA shows him joining the bank in New York as of Wednesday last week. Before that, he was an MD at Barclays focused on biotech ECM. Bloomberg reported at the time that he joined the British Bank from Goldman Sachs, where he worked as an MD in ECM syndicate operations.
Cocks might be running the business with Jennifer Sheng, a Greenwich Connecticut-based MD who has worked for Citi since 2019. She was named co-head of North American healthcare ECM last year, but touts a non-regional title in a more recent bio for an upcoming conference appearance. Citi declined to comment.
Healthcare, and biotech in particular, is a lucrative area of ECM today. The Wall Street Journal reported last month that there had been 23 biotech IPOs in the first three quarters of 2026, compared to eight IPOs in the entirety of last year.
