Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced tax professional with deep expertise in US Federal and State corporate income taxation and a proven track record leading and coordinating IRS and state tax examinations for a large multinational company. This individual will analyze and interpret complex tax laws and regulations affecting Chubb's insurance and non-insurance businesses and coordinate related engagement with the IRS and other domestic tax authorities. The successful candidate will be a key member of Chubb's Center of Excellence for Tax Controversies. This role requires a collaborative, technically strong, organized, and responsive professional who can manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert tax advice and guidance on corporate income tax matters, including federal, state, and local tax law, especially as it pertains to responding to audit inquiries from the IRS or other taxing authorities.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Treasury, and Accounting teams to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.

  • Collaborate with external advisors and consultants to address complex tax issues, related reporting and responses to tax authorities.

  • Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation and policy developments that may impact the organization.

  • Participate in reviews of transactions, contracts, and business structures to identify tax implications, mitigate potential risks, and ensure documentation is in an "audit ready" state.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a Juris Doctor (JD), Master's degree or LLM in taxation desirable

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in corporate tax law, preferably with significant experience dealing with the IRS

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing complex tax controversies, audits, and dispute resolution.

  • Experience working in a large, multinational, and highly regulated organization

  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, external advisors, and tax authorities

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex tax issues.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex legal and tax concepts to non-tax experts

  • Insurance tax experience is preferred but not a requirement, financial services, public accounting and prior private industry experience desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

The pay range for the role is $180,000 to $250,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
