  • We are a lean, highly collaborative team that includes Privacy and Regulatory counseling.

Role Description

  • This role is ideal for an ambitious attorney who exhibits a growth mindset and eagerness to learn. We value strong communicators who can empathize with business partners, deliver solutions-oriented advice, and foster trust with colleagues at all levels.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze new or changing laws, regulations, supervisory guidance, enforcement activity, and industry developments - and translate them into concise and practical guidance.

  • Answer questions about regulatory compliance for Product, Governance, People, and other cross functional teams.

  • Maintain Plaid's regulatory policies, positions, and analyses.

  • Support our Policy team on proactive engagement with policymakers, regulators, and government officials.

  • Partner with Compliance, Security, and operational owners to assess risks and implement and operationalize relevant updates.

  • Create training and enablement materials that help cross functional teams understand and apply regulatory requirements in their day-to-day work.

Requirements

  • J.D. or equivalent law degree and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar, in good standing in the relevant jurisdiction.

  • 5+ years of legal experience providing solutions-oriented advice in a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. financial-services, consumer-protection, privacy, and AI / ADMT regulations.

  • Experience with GLBA, FCRA, UDAAP, PIPEDA, GDPR, state privacy laws, and related regulatory frameworks.

  • Experience monitoring and interpreting statutes, regulations, supervisory guidance, enforcement actions, and regulatory trends and providing actionable guidance to business partners.

  • Familiarity with regulatory-change management, compliance-program design, policy governance, risk assessments, control implementation, and evidence of compliance.

  • Strong legal judgment, analytical skills, issue-spotting, organization, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex issues to non-lawyer audiences.

  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with a willingness to share information early, engage the right partners, and drive clear follow-through.

  • Comfort working through ambiguity and recommending risk-based options in a fast-moving environment.

  • Experience supporting businesses operating in regulated industries is strongly preferred.
