A leading London-based institutional asset manager is seeking a Director of Operational Due Diligence, Internal Controls & Investment Oversight to join its investment risk and governance function.

This is a high-profile leadership role offering broad exposure across both traditional and alternative investment strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the firm's operational due diligence programme and overseeing the assessment, monitoring and governance of external investment managers across Private Equity, Private Credit, Hedge Funds, Real Estate and Traditional Asset Management.

Working closely with senior investment professionals, risk teams, legal, compliance and external managers, you will play a critical role in protecting investor capital, identifying operational risks and supporting investment decision-making.

1. Lead operational due diligence reviews of prospective and existing investment managers across public and private market strategies.
2. Assess governance structures, operating models, internal control frameworks, valuation processes, service provider arrangements and business continuity plans.
3. Evaluate operational, regulatory, compliance, cyber security and counterparty risks.
4. Present due diligence findings and recommendations to Investment Committees, Risk Committees and senior stakeholders.
5. Monitor approved managers on an ongoing basis, undertaking periodic reviews and identifying emerging risks.
6. Partner with investment teams during manager selection, onboarding and monitoring processes.
7. Review fund structures, operating models and outsourced service provider relationships.
8. Lead investigations into operational incidents, control weaknesses and risk events where required.
9. Drive enhancements to the firm's operational due diligence framework and governance processes.
10. Build and maintain relationships with investment managers, consultants, custodians, administrators and other key stakeholders.
11. Mentor and develop junior members of the due diligence and oversight team.

1. Proven operational due diligence experience gained within an asset manager, pension fund, sovereign wealth fund, fund of funds, investment consultant, private markets investor, hedge fund, banking institution or similar investment platform.
2. Deep understanding of investment operations, governance and control frameworks.
3. Experience conducting operational due diligence reviews across private markets and public market investment managers.
4. Strong knowledge of fund structures, service providers, valuation processes and regulatory requirements.
5. Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior decision-makers.
6. Strong report-writing, analytical and presentation skills.
7. Experience presenting findings to Committees and senior management.
8. Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CFA, CAIA or equivalent desirable.
