Control Analytics Manager

We are forming a Control Analytics function within the Operational Risk Management team as a key component of an enhanced enterprise controls framework.  The objectives of this group will be to: a) evaluate the design of controls relative to established control objectives, standards and methodologies and b) implement processes to periodically monitor the operation of controls and confirm the evidence of controls by consuming control performance metrics and related reporting.  Control Analytics will conduct serial advisory engagements to enhance the design and functioning of controls.
  • Establish and implement the new Control Analytics function, including partnering with Internal Audit to create control standards and methodologies
  • Establish control evidence and reporting protocols and implement emerging technology solutions (RPA and Machine Learning) to efficiently monitor key operating controls firm wide
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage Robotics Processing Automation (RPA) and Machine Learning. Establish transferable capabilities; share across Risk Platform teams
  • Lead control advisory engagements to evaluate the design of controls and the sufficiency of control evidence
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships across line management teams, including senior leaders throughout the firm, to ensure strong understanding of the function and the importance of continual focus on control improvement to achieve overall business objectives
  • Negotiate risk proportionate and pragmatic solutions to enhance controls through adept collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Prepare clear control assessments of the sufficiency of controls and evidence of control performance that provide actionable recommendations and value-add insights to management
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with various 2nd and 3rd line of defense functions, including Compliance, Information Security, IT Risks & Controls, and Internal Audit
  • Actively participate in the various risk assessment and incident response processes
  • Minimum 12 years of operational control experience in one or more of the following: Internal Audit, Risk Management or business line management within the asset management industry
  • MS/MBA preferred - Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or other relevant business field of study
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA) is a plus
  • Strong analytical, risk management and problem solving skills
  • Controls mindset and a desire to lead organizational change
  • Robotics Processing Automation (RPA) and Machine Learning experience are pluses
  • Strategic and critical thinker who is also results oriented and pragmatic
  • Strong communication interpersonal skills to be able to interact across levels of management at the firm
  • Excellent organization and project management skills
  • Self-motivated and works well independently as well as part of a team and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important
  • Willingness to travel, when needed
