The Role:

The Senior International Accountant will be responsible for day to day finance operation and control of the following entities, including accounts payable, payroll, tax payments: M&G Investments Hong Kong; M&G Investments Japan and M&G Investments Australia.

Key Work Level Accountabilities:

Manager or Expert:
  • For people managers, accountable for managing and motivating others to ensure quality of delivery to customers and stakeholders
  • For technical specialists, accountable for delivering expert advice or service, using specialist knowledge and subject matter expertise
  • Applies judgement to deliver outcomes, evaluating a range of potential solutions, considering the impact for customers, cost and risk
  • Manages conflicts that may impact delivery
  • Challenges upwards given knowledge of delivery and awareness of complex systems and the broader picture
  • Identifies and anticipates need for changes to continuously improve quality and efficiency of output
  • Manages resources and risks using expert judgment, know-how and experience

Key Responsibilities for this role:

  • Month end postings, reporting and reconciliations for the above entities, plus M&G Guernsey and two profit share entities (PPMSA & PGF Ireland), in both Local & Group GAAP
  • Preparation and completion of regulatory filings for all entities as required & monitor compliance of required capital
  • Preparation, audit and completion of FY2020 financial statements for Hong Kong, Japan, Australia & Guernsey
  • Board paper production & attendance at board meetings if required
  • Raise intercompany invoices and settlements
  • Liaising with tax, HR, CoSec, Compliance, T&B, Lux & Singapore finance teams as necessary to complete all above tasks
  • Prepare and update cashflow forecasts
  • Working through transition to new third party provider for tax and finance activities for both own entities and supporting others within the team as required
  • Sourcing and upload environment data to Greenstone
  • Carry out peer reviews on other team members reporting packs quarterly and provide feedback
  • Support any team wide projects and initiatives as required
  • Maintenance and upkeep of relationship with TPP to include ongoing quality control
  • Chairing weekly team meetings every 5 weeks
  • Close contact with the APAC Finance team with resolution of queries when and where they arise.
  • Support adhoc queries

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Good understanding of P&L and Balance sheet
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Excellent Financial Reporting skills
  • Hong Kong/Japan GAAP knowledge would be a positive but not essential
