Introduction
Our client are a large consultancy working on a variety of Defence and national infrastructure projects.
You'll be delivering high-profile, complex programmes across the UK Defence sector, so a background in defence infrastructure and strong commercial awareness are essential. You must also have really good knowledge working on NEC projects.

Working Patterns and location - Hybrid - 2-3 days on site per week
Key responsibilities
• Lead project teams and workstreams, driving performance and delivering results through others.
• Manage monthly budgeting, forecasting and overall project finances with strong commercial rigour.
• Shape and develop Project Business Cases, defining objectives, costs and benefits for stakeholders.
• Apply proven project management methodologies to ensure successful end-to-end delivery.
• Build and maintain trusted long-term relationships with clients, acting as a strategic advisor.
• Manage contractors, consultants and advisors across complex infrastructure programmes.
• Bring sector knowledge across defence infrastructure to inform planning and delivery decisions.
• Engage and influence senior stakeholders, communicating progress, risks and recommendations clearly.
Skills & experience
• Proven project management experience delivering complex infrastructure or defence programmes.
• Strong commercial awareness including budget management, forecasting and financial control.
• Experience developing and articulating Project Business Cases for senior stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary project teams to deliver results.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at senior level.
• Degree-level education in a relevant subject plus a recognised PM qualification such as PRINCE2, APM PMQ or Agile.
• Proactive, solutions-focused approach with the confidence to challenge and drive progress.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.
The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
• Experience working with UK Government or MOD organisations on defence infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of procurement processes and experience managing NEC contracts.
• Member of the Association for Project Management (MAPM).
• Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner (MSP) or APMP qualification.
• Experience spanning the full project lifecycle from early strategic planning through to construction and delivery.
