Description
The purpose of the Consulting Team Leader role is to lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team of consultants in delivering strategic, client-focused solutions, while also managing their own portfolio of key clients.
The role is responsible for ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality advisory services that meet client needs, support organisational objectives, and drive commercial growth.
Key Tasks & Duties
Team Leadership
• Supervise and monitor the day-to-day performance of direct reports and provide leadership & support as appropriate.
• Undertake Performance and Development Reviews of all direct reporting staff in accordance with internal people processes.
• Support and coach associates to assist, where possible, in achieving their goals, productivity and effectiveness, together with challenging their performance and contribution.
• Ensure resource is allocated appropriately across teams to achieve objectives, in collaboration with the Corporate Consulting Lead.
• Understands, accepts and promotes the Lockton culture remaining consistent with the organisation's philosophies and mission statement.
Account Management
• Leading multiline major clients as a technical and trusted advisor, ensuring client retention
• Deep working knowledge of risk & healthcare markets
• Develop & implement strategies to deal with difficult client situations and communicate difficult messages when necessary
• Lead client delivery teams, providing guidance and training to junior team members as needed, and take responsibility for client deliverables
• Retaining and developing long term revenue growth
• Building sustainable and cross selling channels directly and/or via colleagues
• Representing Lockton to major carriers & fostering strong relationships with all providers in order to support both internal & external stakeholders
• Support Leadership group and development of proposition
• Maintain knowledge of current trends & market developments in the industry
Candidate Profile
• CII Qualifications - IF7, GR1. Cert preferable
• Proven experience line-managing or leading a team of consultants or analysts, including performance management and coaching
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop others
• Experience managing resource allocation, prioritisation and operational efficiency within a consulting or client-delivery environment
• Demonstrated leadership capability, including setting direction, driving accountability, enabling high performance and role-modelling expected behaviours
• Effective people management skills including the ability to identify developmental needs for Associates and to provide appropriate mentoring and coaching.
• Strong verbal and written communication and client relationship skills which can be adjusted to suit the audience
• Ability to interview effectively and hire prospective Associates.
• An understanding of People policies and procedures and ability to implement and/or know when to escalate.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and manage time effectively, focusing on balancing priorities, targets, and deadlines
