FINANCIAL CONTROL SPECIALIST, IG EUROPE GMBH

As a Financial Control Specialist for IG Europe GmbH (IGE) you will primarily focus on German and Polish Branches. You will help to fulfill IGE's financial, tax and regulatory obligations and learn more about requirements of an Investment Firm. Your role in the Team

The Financial Control Specialist is primarily responsible for the integrity of the accounting and financial reporting of IGE's German and newly established Polish branches. It acts as a bridge between the Finance Centre of Excellence and the finance teams in designated finance entities.

What you'll do

• Day-to-day responsibility for meeting regulatory and statutory filing obligations of regulated entities
• Day-to-day financial management and responsibility for processes and controls over financial reporting
• Review daily reports i.e. debt reports, broker reconciliation reports, large exposure reports, daily cash reports, etc
• Assistance with the month-end processes (i.e. IFRS to German GAAP adjustments), preparation of annual financial statements and supporting audit (internal, external, regulatory, ad-hoc) field work, but also tax filings across Continental Europe
• Assistance with daily client money and asset segregation calculations and monthly reports
• Build a strong relationship with risk and compliance to support external reporting requirements, and with other Financial Controllers across the group to drive consistency and continuous improvement across the function
• Drive continual process improvement and maintain effective oversight of operations performed by the Finance Operations and Financial Control team in Krakow
• Establish and maintain financial controls over financial reporting in compliance with IFRS and Local GAAP (i.e. HGB). Review and challenge processes with the aim on continuous control and operational improvement
• Support IGE with tax matters impacting the European entity. Assistance with various tax returns preparation
• Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including the treasury, tax and finance operations team, and external stakeholders, including the external auditors
• Review of monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including accruals, prepaid, property, and inter-company accounts
• Setting up and maintaining the documentation around new processes built under own responsibility
• Driving forward and supporting the closure of any internal and external ad hoc requests
• Supporting the Group and European projects for the topics owned (i.e. remediation of Audit findings)

What you'll need for this role

• At least 3 years accounting expertise and good IFRS skills. German GAAP and understanding of Polish tax framework is an advantage.
• Very good understanding of Financial Statements and risks related to statements positions
• Good analytical skills - the ability to seek and resolve daily financial and operational issues while focusing on addressing open issues independently and taking ownership to resolve matters
• The ability to document and map systems and their requirements in detail
• You need to be a team player who likes to work in an international environment
• Excellent communication skills - the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues and stakeholders as well as regulators and auditors
• Fluent English in communication and writing. Knowledge of German and Polish is an advantage
• Self-motivation and organization - the ability to manage your own time and task list effectively
• Good knowledge of Excel
• Power BI, SUN, Concur, Power Point as an asset
