About the Role:
Manages Surety Underwriting Support and administrative activities (e.g. internal/external customer service, and various bond processing activities) within an assigned office(s) to ensure a balanced, profitable, and quality book of business. Develops and monitors operating and quality standards for unit. Maintains compliance with regulatory requirements and ensures policies and procedures are consistent and quality/risk controls are in place and monitored. Manages staff including hiring, training/development for various levels of staff, and evaluation/adjustment of performance. Ensures staff develops and maintains business relationships with Surety underwriting, internal service partners, and external clients.

The Surety Underwriting Support organization is responsible for the strategic leadership, governance, and execution of underwriting support operations across the Surety business. The team drives operational excellence through standardization, workforce development, quality management, process optimization, and technology enablement. As a key component of the Surety Office of Operations, the organization collaborates across underwriting, operations, compliance, and technology functions to enhance customer experience, improve productivity, mitigate risk, and support profitable growth globally.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing underwriting support organization by managing staffing, performance, employee development, coaching, succession planning, and workforce forecasting across multiple locations.
- Ensure the efficient delivery of underwriting support services by establishing performance standards, monitoring operational results, and maintaining compliance with service level agreements, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive operational excellence through process standardization, workflow optimization, continuous improvement initiatives, quality assurance programs, and performance measurement.
- Partner with underwriting, finance, technology, compliance, and other business stakeholders to enhance operational effectiveness, resolve issues, improve customer experience, and support business objectives.
- Oversee operational reporting, key performance indicators, quality metrics, producer premium receivable processes, and management dashboards to support decision-making and accountability.
- Manage departmental budgets, business continuity planning, and resource allocation to ensure effective and efficient operations.
- Lead and participate in strategic projects, organizational initiatives, technology implementations, and operational change efforts that support business growth and transformation.
- Coordinate operational support activities across assigned regions, including office planning, staffing strategies, and organizational alignment as needed.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Demonstratable leadership experience managing administrative or operational support teams, with progressive growth and experience within Surety preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and evaluate high-performing teams, including employees located across multiple offices or regions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information, influence stakeholders, and build effective working relationships.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Advanced knowledge of interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a focus on driving results and continuous improvement.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development capabilities.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 5% as business needs require.
- Fluent in English and Dutch
