Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Pricing to lead the development, review, and governance of pricing strategies for Life Insurance products. The incumbent will play a key role in ensuring product profitability, regulatory compliance, and market competitiveness while partnering closely with Product, Distribution, Finance, Risk, Underwriting, and senior business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing Strategy & Product Development
- Lead pricing activities for new and existing Individual Life, Health, Savings, Protection, and Investment-Linked products.
- Develop pricing models, assumptions, and methodologies that balance profitability, competitiveness, and customer value.
- Conduct financial projections, profitability analysis, and sensitivity testing to support product design and pricing decisions.
- Recommend pricing strategies based on market trends, customer needs, and business objectives.
Actuarial Analysis
- Perform actuarial modelling, valuation support, and pricing analysis using industry-standard actuarial software.
- Review pricing assumptions relating to mortality, morbidity, persistency, expenses, investment returns, and reinsurance.
- Ensure pricing assumptions remain appropriate through regular experience studies and monitoring.
Portfolio Management
- Monitor product performance and profitability against pricing expectations.
- Conduct post-launch reviews and recommend pricing or product enhancements where necessary.
- Support embedded value, capital management, and profitability initiatives.
Governance & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure pricing practices comply with local regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and internal governance policies.
- Prepare pricing documentation and present recommendations to Product Committees and senior management for approval.
- Support regulatory submissions and respond to actuarial or audit queries.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Product Development, Distribution, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Investments, and Risk functions throughout the product lifecycle.
- Work closely with reinsurers on pricing support, treaty negotiations, and product innovation.
- Present pricing recommendations and business cases to executive management.
Leadership
• Lead and mentor junior actuarial and pricing professionals.
• Drive continuous improvement in pricing methodologies, automation, and actuarial processes.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives supporting business growth and transformation.
Requirements
• Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• FIA, FSA, FIAA, or equivalent actuarial qualification (qualified or near-qualified candidates will be considered).
Experience
• 8–12 years of actuarial pricing experience within the Life Insurance industry.
• Strong experience in Individual Life, Health, Protection, Savings, or Investment-Linked products.
• Proven track record in product pricing, profitability analysis, and product development.
• Experience working with regulators and governance committees is highly desirable.
Technical Skills
• Strong actuarial modelling and financial analysis capabilities.
• Proficiency in actuarial software such as Prophet, AXIS, MG-ALFA, Moses, or similar platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills; knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or VBA is an advantage.
• Good understanding of IFRS 17, RBC frameworks, Embedded Value, and local regulatory requirements.
