Our client, a leading international financial institution with a strong presence across Asia and global markets, is seeking an experienced Settlement Professional (VP to SVP level) to join its Operations team in Hong Kong.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned settlements specialist looking to take on a critical checker role with maker backup responsibilities, supporting a dynamic business across multiple asset classes and markets.

• Perform and oversee daily settlement operations for equities, fixed income, and other financial products across local and overseas markets.
• Act as the primary checker for settlement processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Provide backup support for maker functions, including trade matching, settlement instruction processing, and exception handling.
• Monitor settlement activities and proactively resolve settlement breaks, failed trades, and operational issues.
• Liaise with counterparties, custodians, brokers, clearing houses, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth transaction processing.
• Support operational risk management initiatives and maintain robust control procedures.
• Participate in system enhancements, process automation, and operational efficiency projects.
• Assist in regulatory reporting, audit requests, and compliance-related matters as required.
• Adapt to evolving business requirements, product offerings, and changing market conditions.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years' relevant experience in securities settlement, custody operations, or brokerage operations within a bank, securities firm, or financial institution.
• Solid understanding of settlement workflows, market practices, and operational controls.
• Experience handling Hong Kong and international market settlements is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of settlement systems, CCASS, custodians, and market infrastructures.
• Ability to perform effectively in a checker capacity while providing hands-on operational support when required.
• Highly adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is an advantage.
