As a Database Support Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of critical database systems and business applications.

Your new role

• Administer, maintain, and support Microsoft SQL Server databases, including configuration, monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and system upgrades.
• Act as a key liaison between business users and IT teams, gathering reporting requirements and translating them into practical data and system solutions.
• Build, maintain, and optimise SQL queries, datasets, reports, and data integrations to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Provide day-to-day support for business-critical applications, databases, and reporting platforms, ensuring high system availability and performance.
• Collaborate closely with regional IT teams and external vendors on system enhancements, integrations, data migration activities, and application rollouts.
• Investigate and resolve database, application, and system-related issues, performing root cause analysis and driving continuous improvements.
• Support user acceptance testing (UAT), system releases, and change implementation activities to ensure smooth delivery of new functions and enhancements.
• Deliver user training, maintain technical documentation, and provide guidance to business users on reporting tools, data interpretation, and system functionality.
• Monitor database health, performance, storage utilisation, backup processes, and application usage metrics while recommending improvements to optimise system effectiveness.

What you'll need to succeed

• Higher Diploma, Associate Degree, or above in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in IT Support, Database Support, Database Administration or SQL Server administration.
• Hands-on experience in application supporting and administering Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) environments.
• Strong knowledge of MSSQL scripting, query optimization, database maintenance, backup and recovery processes.
• Experience with system configuration, APIs, JSON/XML, data migration, or system integration would be an advantage.
• Exposure to reporting and data analysis tools such as Excel and Power BI is preferred.
• Knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and application support is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working with vendors, users, and regional support teams.
• Ability to support production environments and respond to incidents in a timely manner.
• Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
