VP Research Strategist
The G10 Rates Strategist will analyse macroeconomic trends to formulate global interest rate investment strategies for Citi's institutional investor clients, with a focus on Australian and New Zealand markets.  Working with the global macro research team, the Strategist will be responsible for developing quantitative models, publishing and marketing research reports supporting those strategies to institutional investor clients and the sales & trading desk.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in a rates strategy or econometrics in a financial markets trading environment.  A knowledge of semi government markets and inflation linked products would be desirable. This will suit a driven and analytical individual who can interpret macroeconomic trends and provide insightful and actionable commentary to clients in dynamic market-facing role.

  • Expeditiously originate and publish research reports and presentations in a clear and succinct manner
  • Drive weekly publications and contribute to the origination of proactive thematic research.
  • Assisting internal sales and trading teams in the timely analysis of topical issues in the market
  • Compiling economic and financial data into robust models and databases
  • Collaborating with Equity Strategy, Quant and Fundamental teams to produce joint and multi-asset research.
  • Responding to client requests
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications and skillset:
  • 5-7 years relevant experience in fixed income research with a strong and practical understanding of Economics, Financial Markets and Econometrics ​
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong presentation and writing skills
  • High attention to detail in a fast paced environment
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail oriented
  • A passion for financial markets genuinely interested in a dynamic environment.
  • Highly numerate, inquisitive with a discerning personality
  • Team player

  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance or related quantitative fields
