Do work that matters We are looking for driven and talented individuals to join the Retail Banking Services (RBS) Lending Line 1 Risk Centre of Excellence (COE). You will be part of a high-performing team supporting our business with empowering our customers to achieve their goals and dreams in managing their cash flows, facilitating seamless and safe purchases, and home ownership.
As a Senior Manager, you will be a confident and trusted risk partner to your Consumer Finance (CF) stakeholders, responsible for coordinating and providing timely and pragmatic non-financial risk advice and guidance. You will proactively identify risks to the Domain working in partnership to reduce risk and improve the control environment. You will work closely with stakeholders across RBS and the Group, build intimate knowledge of CF products and processes, and lead like an owner to ensure the business is aligned with the Group's frameworks and standards.
On any given day, you will: - Deliver pragmatic and informed risk insights/advisory to contribute the delivery of CF and RBS strategies
- Manage and advise on all elements of non-financial risk frameworks to ensure risks, obligations, issues, incidents, breach reporting, and risk and control self-assessments meet framework requirements and are of the highest quality to drive timely resolution, remediation and improvement to the risk profile
- Pre-empt risks, gaps and opportunities and remove complexity to drive pragmatic solutions that ensure CF customer experiences are delivered with efficiency and excellence
- Assist our Crews in designing and embedding optimised process and control solutions
- Establish and facilitate effective risk governance, including leading scrum meetings with Crew Leads and Product Owners to ensure key risk items are prioritised
- Support CF with managing third party risk to deliver on CF's strategic objectives and manage impacts to the CF risk profile
- Uphold ethical conduct and compliance by understanding relevant regulatory obligations and ensuring we take reasonable steps to deliver quality customer outcomes
- Lead a proactive risk and control culture, ensuring embedment with key project stakeholders and business representatives
- Work collaboratively with the wider risk team to deliver best practice risk advice across the business
- Establish performance metrics and reporting for Line 1 Risk and drive data quality in various systems (including RiskInSite and Jira) relevant to enable RBS-wide risk reporting
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes
- Guide, coach and lead junior members of the team ensuring the team delivers high quality outcomes
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of risk capabilities within the team and across the Domain
- Identify and drive reduction in inherent and residual risks across the Domain
We're interested in hearing from people who have: - Deep understanding and experience in operational and compliance risks within financial services
- Strong reasoning and influencing skills to work with senior stakeholders
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively
- Ability to independently drive and deliver outcomes and initiatives in a fast-paced, shifting environment
- Experience coaching and developing a team of junior team members
- Knowledge of Consumer Finance products, processes and systems is highly desirable
- Experience in performing reviews of critical processes to identify what can go wrong, control gaps/weaknesses and/or optimisation opportunities is desirable
- Ability to analyse trends, identify critical threats and opportunities, diagnose problems and issues, and recommend appropriate actions
