This role sits within Business Banking (BB) Technology, providing technology solutions to Business Banking domains across Business Banking and CommSec. Within BB Technology, the Digital Domain focuses on technology enablement of digital engagement channels and covers the teams that support BB Digital and CommBank Smart Health, contributing to strategic BB and Customer NPS +30 outcomes.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will contribute to building the future of our digital platform while focusing on developing and deploying innovative technology solutions that will enable us to build tomorrow's bank today. You'll use your data engineering experience and skills to develop technical solutions in a SaaS and cloud-based environment, building out the core technology and domain knowledge required for the team.

• Develop high quality data engineering solutions with comprehensive test coverage.
• Participate as member of software development team with minimal supervision and occasional guidance.
• Provide technical support and assistance to other non-technical members of the team.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Contribute to support and technical troubleshooting activity.
• Collaborate within the team to apply the principles of design, development, testing, deployment, support, and evaluation.

Tech skills:

Should have skill set:

• Proficient in Data Engineering Skills such as SQL, AWS Data Engineering Services such as EMR, Redshift, DynamoDB, DocumentDB and Glue and Data Platforms such as Hadoop and Snowflake
• Solid technical background in building data ingestion, data integration, data mapping, data quality and performance tuning
• Experience working with Kafka, API integrations and ETL Tools such as Ab Initio
• Expertise in DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, scheduling tools (Autosys, Airflow), logging and monitoring tools (TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Snyk and Sonarqube)
• Ability to build solutions to meet the highest possible quality standards while simultaneously balancing security, performance, availability, and maintainability concerns
• Ability to adapt and learn new technologies quickly
• Good team player, interpersonal skills and strong communication skills

Developed knowledge/understanding of (good to have):

• AWS Data Engineer certification is highly desirable
• Microsoft Azure Cloud Certification(s)
• Experience in data warehousing and data mart build in Teradata, Oracle or similar RDBMS
• Experience working in Mulesoft Integration for CRM Salesforce is highly desirable
• Good knowledge working with S3 Storage, Parquet File Format, Iceberg, AWS Services such as SNS, SQS, SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda functions, RDS and MSK
• Banking and financial services experience in a complex environment
• Experience in testing automation
• Understanding of BIAN Service Domains and Data as a Product concepts
• Experience building solutions using .NET/C#, Spark, Python, Java and Scala
