As a Life Insurance Senior Consultant, you will be responsible for developing and managing large, high profile, complex, and leading-edge projects, ensuring excellence in project execution as well as driving business development in both Australia and Asia.

The Role

  • Maximise utilisation of team resources to support local and regional results
  • Drive new business development activities, actively seeking to generate new opportunities and maximise business through relationships and contacts whilst achieving agreed financial targets
  • Manage client delivery and associated financial processes
  • Build and maintain relationships with key players within the insurance and financial services market 
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of projects which meet or exceed client expectations, ensuring that they are delivered to time and on budget
  • Develop a profile as the go-to person for life insurance companies who require consultancy support 
  • Maintain a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
  • Manage colleagues assigned to your projects to ensure on-time delivery and quality that meets or exceeds not only our internal high standards but also client expectations
  • Facilitate the development of less experienced colleagues through coaching and mentoring
  • Participate in regional and cross-functional teams, bringing technical expertise and promoting teamwork to ensure client satisfaction and profitable business growth
  • Ensure projects on which you work achieve the highest professional excellence scores
  • Engender a continuous improvement culture and contribute to the development of new tools and approaches
  • Maintain and develop cutting edge technical and industry knowledge
The Requirements

  • International actuarial qualifications 
  • Significant experience of adding value to insurance and financial services company business results in Australia at an executive level (some of which will ideally have been within a consultancy)
  • A demonstrated understanding of the following: Financial reporting (embedded value, IFRS, AUSGAAP); Actuarial valuations; Financial modelling; Application of modern financial economic theory to insurance e.g. MCEV, stochastic modelling; Product development/pricing; Merger & Acquisitions 
  • Excellence in project management and project delivery
  • Highly credible and experienced at discussing complex issues with senior management and providing innovative solutions
  • Ability to propose for, and win, profitable new business 
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Self-driven achiever who values teamwork and collaboration, and exhibits decisiveness and integrity in all that they do
