Department overview:

Fitch's Structured Finance team maintains existing ratings and assigns new ratings to new structured finance transactions. The Australian and New Zealand Structured Finance team currently rate transactions across three main asset classes: Asset Backed Securities, Residential Mortgage Backed Securities and Commercial Mortgage Backed Securities.


  • Keeping abreast of macro-economic news or submarket news that is relevant for SF (e.g. property or mortgage markets)
  • Keeping abreast of ABS and RMBS securitisation market news flow
  • Author and publish one-off reports or short commentaries with a credit focus on topics relevant for ABS, RMBS
  • Author and publish quarterly ABS and RMBS performance reports
  • Execute the required review of criteria which will involve
    • Back testing criteria against observed historical performance
    • Determining recommendations for criteria development
    • Authoring committee proposal documentation, report and presenting to working groups and criteria committee

Qualifications and experience:

  • At least 5+ years' experience in the securitisation industry or research with economics background
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CFA/CA qualification not essential but viewed as favourably
  • Self-starter and highly independent but being able to work as part of a team
  • Critical thinker and high attention to detail
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to work towards project deadlines
