A leading scientific and research-focused organisation is seeking a Research Data Advisor to join its Research Data Services team on an initial 6-month contract. Working within a collaborative and purpose-driven environment, you will play a key role in supporting researchers and research teams to manage, govern, preserve, and share valuable research data throughout its lifecycle. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful research outcomes while supporting best-practice data management, governance, and compliance initiatives.
Your new role
As a Research Data Advisor, you will support the delivery and adoption of research data management tools, services, and processes across the organisation. You will work closely with researchers, data stewards, and technology teams to promote effective research data management practices, support data lifecycle activities, and ensure compliance with information management standards.Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting researchers with research data lifecycle management, data archiving, and preservation activities
- Managing support requests, incidents, and escalations through service management platforms
- Assisting with data classification, sensitive data handling, retention schedules, and information governance activities
- Supporting research data repositories, archives, and related research data management services
- Gathering user requirements, maintaining backlogs, contributing to testing, and supporting change initiatives
- Developing and delivering training, workshops, user guides, and supporting documentation
- Driving the adoption of research data management best practices across research teams
- Collaborating with stakeholders across research, digital, and enterprise service functions
- Experience supporting research data repositories, archives, catalogues, or inventory tools
- Knowledge of research data archiving and digital preservation practices
- Experience working within research, higher education, scientific, or research-intensive environments
