We're working with a leading technology-driven trading firm that is hiring a Data focused Python Engineer for a business-critical engineering function.

This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative team responsible for building and maintaining large-scale data platforms, operational tooling, and business-critical systems that support global trading and investment activities.

The Role

You will work on complex data-intensive problems, building scalable backend services and data processing solutions that help the business manage, analyse, and act on large volumes of information in real time.

The role offers significant ownership, close collaboration with global stakeholders, and the opportunity to contribute to systems that directly impact business operations.

Responsibilities

1. Design, develop and maintain Python-based applications and services
2. Build scalable data processing pipelines and backend systems
3. Work with large, complex datasets to generate insights and improve operational efficiency
4. Develop tooling and automation to support critical business workflows
5. Collaborate with engineering, operations and business stakeholders globally
6. Contribute to the architecture and evolution of core data platforms

Requirements

1. Strong commercial experience developing software in Python
2. Experience working with large-scale data processing systems
3. Exposure to modern data technologies such as Spark, Databricks or similar distributed computing frameworks
4. Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for hands-on engineering
5. Experience working within complex, data-rich environments

Preferred Background

1. Financial services, trading, banking or investment management environments
2. Experience supporting operational, data, risk or control-related workflows
3. Exposure to trade lifecycle, transaction processing or large-scale operational platforms
4. Experience building internal platforms, automation tooling or data products
