Principal Experience Designer - WIB
Job Description

  • Permanent role
  • Sydney based - hybrid working, 3 days a week on site.
  • Fantastic opportunity to join Westpac's Experience Design team.

How will I help?

The Westpac Institutional Bank (WIB) Digital Program enables the WIB Digital Strategy by delivering new digital capabilities to our relationship-managed customers and internally facing teams. A large part of this capability will be realised through the delivery of the Westpac One platform. This new digital platform experience for relationship-managed customers will provide personalised access to real-time liquidity and payment solutions, lending, deposit and risk management tools; digitised onboarding, and data-driven insights. The Principal Experience Designer will be joining the WIB Digital Program to support the Head of WIB Experience Design in executing the team's priorities, which involve designing customer and staff experiences for the Westpac One platform.

You play a crucial role in ensuring that products, services, and digital experiences are intuitive, user-friendly, and meet the needs and expectations of the target audience. You will combine user-centred design principles, research methodologies, and project management expertise to create exceptional user experiences. You will be collaborating with stakeholders, such as product managers and domain leads, to define a project's overall UX strategy and goals. In addition to this you will:
  • Conduct or oversee user research activities, such as user interviews, usability testing, and competitive analysis, to gather insights about user needs, behaviours, and preferences.
  • Create user journeys, wireframes and prototypes to demonstrate best-in-class user experience, including interaction flows and information architecture.
  • Contribute to user testing initiatives to identify areas of focus and improvement.
  • Effectively communicate design ideas and prototypes to stakeholders.
  • Use analytics together with a commercial mindset to deliver against business KPIs.
  • Contribute to, help define and embed best-practice design processes.
  • Support Heads in creating and managing the plan throughout the project.

What's in it for me?

You'll play a significant part of the future of a business that has been around for over 200 years. Our purpose is to create better futures together. So, we'll back you in the development of your career, internal career prospects, and flexible working. You'll also keep learning to grow your career, backed by a fantastic team of people with a can-do, supportive structure. Whatever shape your family takes, we offer generous paid and unpaid parental leave for your nominated primary and support carers. This includes leave to organise adoptions, surrogacy, and foster care arrangements. And we continue to pay your super contributions while you take all the time you need to get your new family settled.

What do I need?

The ideal candidate will come from an extensive background in the digital product design field, with proficiency in prototyping tools such as Figma and Axure. You will have a LEAN, Agile mindset with experience in Agile and LEAN products. You will have strong points of views on various topics, be able to generate new ideas and frameworks, and be recognised internally as a thought leader. You will be a great storyteller who can guide the team in creating meaningful stories, as well as being a confident presenter in internal and external situations. In addition to this you will:
  • Confidently elaborate and defend ideas when questioned.
  • Have strong knowledge of coding languages including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Understand how to create AA accessibility-compliant designs.
  • Be detail-driven and able to manage time across several projects at the same time.
  • Have strong emotional intelligence with an ability to listen, be curious and empathise with an ability to influence.
  • Be able to deal with ambiguity and adapt to change.

What is it like to work there?

We aim to provide one big, supportive team to help us achieve our purpose of creating better futures together. As well as competitive remuneration and a great culture, joining the Westpac family means you will get some of the best banking, wealth and insurance benefits in the market.
