Principal Engineer - Murex Platform Engineering

Following a successful migration of the Murex platform to AWS, we are looking to reap all the benefits of cloud and are looking for a seasoned engineer with experience in trading systems to accomplish this goal. Ahead of us is also a substantial amount of delivery work supporting business growth as well as process transformation to implement DevSecOps across our entire technology stack.

The Murex Platform team is part of the Murex crew in IB&M Technology; we work in close collaboration with Murex Functional teams focusing on the various key functions of the platform (Front-Office/Pre-trade, Operations/Post-trade, Market Risk, Credit Risk and Collateral management). Our purpose is to provide a stable, scalable and resilient platform and help those teams and their business stakeholders realise maximum value from Murex. To achieve this, we are constantly improving all the facets of the platform, starting with how it is deployed in the cloud, but also how it is set up and structured, and last but not least, how it's operated.

We currently have a vacant Principal Engineer role to complete the team and take on a technology leadership role; the incumbent would be accountable for all key technology decisions such as the choice of AWS services to support the Murex platform, right-sizing strategy and overall alignment of the technology stack to the overarching platform strategy. The role also involves providing guidance to more junior engineers to help them achieve their full potential.

We're interested in hearing from people who:

• Have a proven track record of trading systems implementations in the cloud, with a strong focus on Murex
• Have acquired and maintained AWS Solution Architect certification level over the past five years and applied their skills on real life projects
• Know how to balance short term needs and strategic vision
• Are keen to share their knowledge and skills, while learning more themselves along the way

Skills:
We are strong believers in transferable skills, however the following are day 1 must-haves:

• AWS
  
  • EC2
  • RDS
  • Lamdba / Step Functions
  • EKS / Fargate
• Python
• REST APIs (front- and backend)
• Oracle

The following are welcome complementary skills:

• Java
• DevSecOps experience (especially the Sec part!)
• Observability (especially the OpenTelemetry framework)
• FinOps
