The Credit Analysis Unit (CAU) team works closely with Relationship Managers (RMs) to drive preparation of Credit Proposals for all new client facilities as well as managing the annual review processes. The business product scope includes and extension capital markets span including Debt Capital Markets, Leverage and Acquisition Finance, Real Asset and Structured Finance, Issuer Services, and is a lead Sustainable Financing provider. The breadth and complexity transactions is industry leading in Australia.
Reporting into the COO, the Head of Credit Analysis is a key role in the Wholesale Banking Chief Operating Office (WCOO) in Australia and is part of the WCOO Management team . The Wholesale Banking function covers both our Commercial Banking and Global Banking businesses in Australia. Your focus will be on the oversight and management of credit analysis capabilities for Global Banking clients (covering Institutional, Financial, Corporate and Multi-National sectors) and in time be charged with building the credit analysis capabilities into the Commercial (Large Corporate, Middle Market, Real Estate and International Subsidiaries sectors), thereby covering all the clients across the Wholesale businesses in Australia.
Many of the credit approvals are for transactions above $100m AUD and the team currently has six analysts onshore supported by analysts in an offshore team.
Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Ensure relationships between CAU (Credit Analysis Unit), Client Onboarding, Credit Risk, and RMs are strategically forward looking, highly collaborative and productively engaged towards mutual business outcomes
  • Provide the highest quality, forward looking and professional Credit Analysis to our Global Banking (GB) business for existing portfolios and new business transactions.
  • Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with GB across Australia to ensure work load is considered well in advance, resources are effectively deployed and overdues are managed effectively
  • Ensure CAU's management of Funds, FIG and Corporates (onshore and offshore) is developed with business development objectives in mind, timely delivery of services, appropriate controls, thorough documentation and a high degree of data integrity. Review and with stakeholders formulate and deliver a best in class Credit Risk Management and control environment observing group policy and procedure documents
  • Develop and manage a forward looking and strategic relationship with Australia and Wholesale Risk


Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Educated to the degree level.
  • Extensive banking experience required within a credit risk discipline strongly preferred
  • Demonstrate deep domain expertise with the nature of complex/structured finance transactions, including Project & Export Finance, Structured Trade Finance, Highly Leveraged Transactions and Asset Backed Lending.
  • Cross client section knowledge including corporates, financial institutions and funds is preferred
  • Highly developed leadership and management ability
  • Excellent analysis, design and problem solving skills
  • Strong commercial and financial management experience with a proven track record in a professional services environment
  • Highly developed negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Able to understand and consolidate diverse and complex business information and identify / mitigate risk issues.
