About the role

We are looking for a highly skilled Data Operations Engineer to help build a new modern data and insights platform in Azure cloud.

This role is offered as 2-years fixed term contract with possible extension or permanency.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to Senior Leader, Data Platforms, you will play a pivotal role in for the ongoing administration and improvement of the data platform, ensuring its stability, scalability, and security, building data pipelines for analytics and reporting use cases.

• Configure CI/CD tool Azure Devops
• Implement operational workflow and orchestration solutions, e.g., job scheduling, file transfer, etc.
• Implement business continuity solutions, e.g., monitoring, backup, recovery, etc.
• Work closely with development teams across the data and insights team to understand problems, evaluate patterns and best practices and find opportunities for the team to contribute
• Embrace Lean principles and work as a part of an Agile team - utilising sprints, epics, experiments, and iterating based on feedback.
• Drive adoption of our services and tooling through workshops, training and consultation.
• Seek opportunities to automate our own services and processes, reducing operational toil in an Azure-cloud data platform environment.

About you

You are the go-to expert in crafting, implementing, and sustaining resilient data processing pipelines. Your role is pivotal in guaranteeing the effectiveness, precision, and scalability of our data infrastructure.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Strong Skills in Azure Cloud, including Infrastructure as Code technologies and processes.
• Ability to configure CI/CD toolsets such as Azure DevOps or equivalent.
• Ability to configure and to leverage modern work tracking toolset ( Azure Boards, Jira).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to articulate, advocate and influence team culture and bring people on the journey.
• Confident in the data development cycle, particularly as it pertains to Databricks, Azure Data Factory, PowerBI, SQL, Pyspark and PowerShell
• Commitment to improving and maintaining security practices.
• Experience using a modern CI/CD tooling suite, with knowledge of continuous integration / continuous deployment concepts.
