This dynamic business has been operating for over 40 years. They are a boutique provider of organisational consultancy solutions that combine the best elements of individual wellbeing and organisational psychology. They provide a range of services to individual clients and organisations in the public, not-for-profit and private sector. Due to organic growth and expansion, a position now exists for an Accountant or Finance Manager from within an SME environment to join their team on a permanent part time basis. (0.6FTE)

Your new role
You'll work closely with the 4 Directors of the business and the key professionals within the business and the wider administration support team. Your role will be varied and will evolve over time. You'll be responsible for the day to day financial requirements for the business as well as enhancing the strategic financial operations of the business. Duties will include but will not be limited to the following:
  • Manage all finance and accounting operations including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, debt management and collection and bank reconciliations
  • Manage and comply with all Statutory responsibilities (including local, state, and federal government reporting requirements) for the Company are met, including BAS, PAYG, GST, payroll and all superannuation payments and lodgement
  • Process payroll and ensure all employee superannuation and taxation requirements are met
  • Ensure quality of financial reporting and analysis, including preparing and publishing timely monthly financial reporting package
  • Prepare and manage cashflow and forecast reports
  • Undertake month-end and year-end closing process
  • Coordinate the annual budget process ensuring appropriate input of relevant people
  • Work with external Accountant to finalise annual financial statements
  • Work closely with Directors to share reports and analyse findings with consultants
  • Establish, monitor and adhere to internal controls for all finance related activities, including developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Develop financial strategy, including risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting
  • Analyse and recommend efficiency improvements for reducing costs across the business
  • Provide input to continuous improvement of accounting and financial systems and processes
  • Review all financial contracts, financing agreements and insurance policies and provide recommendations to Directors for consideration and approval
  • Provide financial projection and modelling on projects as required
  • Participate in the existing accredited QM system
  • Implement policy decisions made by Directors

What you'll need to succeed
You'll be an experienced Accountant or Finance Manager with experience in a varied role within a small to medium business. You'll hold CA/CPA or equivalent qualifications. You'll have excellent time management skills and strong interpersonal skills. You'll enjoy process improvement, being a hands-on Accountant whilst also working closely with the Directors and adding value. Experience using MYOB would be advantageous. Strong excel and analytical skills will also be highly regarded.

Your agreed hours can be negotiated as either three full days or a different combination over 4-5 days each week. While regular presence in the office will be required, working from home a portion of the time can be negotiated.
